Inspiring future engineers
Kinseed is extremely proud to have sponsored Speenhamland Primary School in Newbury, Berkshire, to help achieve their incredible ambition of sending a craft into space and back.
On 3rd July 2026, at 3:30pm, the school launched their mascot Trodon the dragon into space, taking with him flags printed with pictures from every child at the school. Using a high altitude meteorological balloon and a specially shielded 360-degree GoPro camera, the craft managed to climb to an altitude of just over 100,000 feet, before bursting and parachuting back to earth, landing in a field in East Sussex.
Kinseed helped provide both resources and materials for the launch, including the launch gas mix for the balloon itself – without which the craft would not have been able to achieve the incredible heights it did. As a result, we can now proudly say – Kinseed’s work, perseverance, and of course our logo, have all now touched the edge of space: a perfect metaphor for our ambitions to achieve the seemingly impossible against all odds.
About the programme
Kinseed helped sponsor this programme for one simple reason: to inspire the engineers, technologists, mathematicians, and dreamers of the future. In the critical, formative time at Primary School, it’s so important to show children that no matter how extreme or impossible a dream may seem, with the right perseverance, planning and support, anything is possible.
